Santa Barbara Beaches, The View From the Amtrak. And Palm Trees at the Santa Barbara Amtrak Station.

Basically, the only two things holding back the Pacific Northwest from being the best place to live in North America. Sunny beaches with beautiful waves and exotic palm trees.

My Last Day in LA

Oh, and I went in to American Eagle to buy a pair of cheap sunglasses and as the girl was ringing me up she was trying to make small talk. First she complimented my headband, then she asked me "how many months I was". I guess I'm fat enough to look pregnant? <_<

Radiohead @ The Greek Theatre 6/30

The show was good... But they didn't play anything unique except a horribly butchered and unimpressive half version of True Love Waits which turned into Everything In It's Right Place and ended the show. Here are some pictures I got from the terrace. The seat was awesome. It was in the 4th row and I had a great view. There was an older guy sitting somewhat near me and he was a great fan and it's always nice to sit next to people who love Radiohead during Radiohead shows. I got teary eyed during Videotape, and I'm not sure why... But I'm sad to have finished my Radiohead experience. One more day in LA however, a sightseeing bonanza!

The first picture, with me and the number on my hand, is when I was in the cancelled tickets line. Like I said in an earlier post we showed up around 6pm and I scored that Section A 4th row ticket right at 9pm. Today, I was 113th in line. Neither me nor my friends got any tickets tonight... But my terrace seat ended up being GREAT! First of all, many more people were in line today than yesterday. Second of all, they only released maybe... 40 pairs of tickets for tonights show. Nonetheless I met some neat people in line and even though I forewent sightseeing to wait in line, it was an experience I won't forget. As in San Diego, the people in the front of the line had been there since the night before. One of the first girls in line had organized a list of people and when wristbands got passed out around 3pm they were done in order of when the person got there. Of course scalpers got in line. They even had their children get wristbands and get tickets for them to sell. Skeezy. The last picture is me outside of the Greek Theatre after the show. Apparently all the people who worked at the Greek said they have never in their 10 years or whatever of working there have ever seen such demand and dedicated fans trying to get tickets. Radiohead fans are crazy. The other picture is simply me in my hotel room before I started the day, I thought it was a cute picture :P

Luck Was Once More on My Side

I came to the Greek around 6 pm with a Rear C ticket... There was a sort of long line for "cancelled tickets", me and the people I was with figured we may as well wait in it, no harm there. We heard of section B tickets being released earlier that day. Anyway, by 8:15 p.m. one friend left, didn't want to take his chances, thought he wouldn't be able to sell his ticket since it was an E-Ticket (he would have though, believe me). By 8:50 Deerhoof's set had been over for a bit and the other friend I was with left. She was nervous about missing any part of Radiohead. At 9 p.m. I had made arrangememets with the guy in front of me to buy me a ticket, since everyone in line can buy two (of course earlier in the day many a scalper turned around and tried to sell their newly purchased tickets to people in line <_<, douches). The people before us had scored Section A Row L or something, earlier in the day it was all Section B. The tickets were just getting better! The guy bought the tickets and said, holy shit! I took a look... Section A Row D. FOURTH ROW!!! Here's a picture of my ticket. I'll post pictures of the show later.

The show was awesome! I almost got a setlist, the guy looked at me when he threw it. But i'm so stupid I mistook it for something else (a piece of garbage), and some guy grabbed it and ran away. :( Again, my karma.

Oh well, two more shows!!!!

Ok, so before I post the rest of my pictures from San Diego night two, I'm going to do a review of Monday's show.

I got into San Diego and was way stressed out for several reasons, including my unexpected purchase of hotel and airfare. Got in line around 3:30-ish. Hot, muggy, cloudy. As soon as the gates opened I saw the fans run to the front of the venue to ensure a good spot for the concert. I was situated about 6 rows deep on Jonny's side, but way to the left. I sort of weaseled my way up further, karma has already got me back for that though. The show was amazing. As soon as Radiohead came on stage I started to cry.

I waited with some other people after the show to meet the band. Stayed until around 1 a.m., but no luck. It was Colin's birthday, and the consensus was the band took an inconspicuous van out of the venue. I read on the official Radiohead message board about some one meeting them outside on night two. Of course, this is my karma getting back to me.

AMTRAK SUCKS

I'll admit I had a beautiful view (about 1/6 of the time), and I was lucky enough to get a window seat, but my 35 hour train ride was turning into an estimated 50+. If I didn't actually have to be somewhere I would have been fine. But I have plans! I got off in Sacramento, where I am staying tonight, then I'm catching a plane into Long Beach and driving to San Diego. RADIOHEAD TOMORROW!!! Less than 24 hours. And damn it all, they played True Love Waits the other day. I won't see it! The picture on the top is Mt. Shasta (I guess the route usually passes it at night, since we were delayed 10 hours we got to see it). The picture on the left is an Amtrak train, the black splatters reminscent of those showing up in the new Radiohead artwork. The picture on the right was taken at the Amtrak station in Dunsmuir California, deep within the Cascade Mountain range.

Screen Shots of What I Could Have Bought Today

Too bad I won't be in Quebec tomorrow, I was online when some more seats for tomorrow nights show got released. Literally the best seat in the house. That little blue dot represents where I would be tomorrow night if I could somehow magically transport to Canada. Or if I had more than $1,000 for a round trip flight. Ha.

I've been scouring the web for reasonably priced tickets to the Radiohead shows at the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles. I was lucky enough to get a seat to the show on 6/29 from ticketmaster (sold out in less than a minute!).

Today I caved in and bought a ticket for the show on 6/30 from ticketliquidator.com, $188 for a ticket (Terrace Row DD Seat 16). Obstructed view? Bad sound? Guess I'll know when I get there. I'm just glad I got my tickets! I only went the scalper route because I decided I'd probably have little luck getting a ticket the day of the show or being online at the right time if more tickets get released on ticketmaster.com or W.A.S.T.E. I still check obsessively.
